Module 1.1.2 · Phase 1 Diagnosis · Step 1.1 Mandate & ScopeCore
Data Ingestion & Profiling
Is the dataset ready to be assessed?
Gets your dataset into the assessment and sets the foundation every later module reads.
What it does
You upload a CSV, TSV or Excel file, check the detected column types, assign column roles and confirm the protected attributes. You get a data quality score, warnings on redundant columns, and a certificate that fingerprints the exact file for the audit trail.
Why it matters
This step formally initiates the fairness assessment by defining the system under review, its intended use, and the organizational mandate for assessing fairness. It establishes accountability, clarifies which decisions and populations are in scope, and documents success criteria, ensuring fairness is treated as a governed obligation rather than an optional analysis.
