    Bias Detection & Prioritization

Which biases should we look for, and which come first?

Decides which biases to look for in your system and which to address first.

    What it does

You screen a catalogue of bias types, record how each was checked and what was found, and score confirmed biases on severity, scope, persistence, historical alignment and ease of fixing. The prioritised bias register feeds metric suggestions in Fairness Measurement.

    Why it matters

This step identifies and classifies concrete bias mechanisms affecting the system and prioritizes them based on impact, severity, and feasibility of mitigation. It focuses attention on the most material sources of unfairness, preventing diffuse or unfocused intervention efforts.

Step 2.3, Bias Identification, in the Decision phase.
